PCB Design

PCB design, from schematic to finished board.

Schematics, multi-layer layouts and complete manufacturing packages, designed so your boards are reliable, testable and economical to produce.

PCB Design at picoBytes

A good layout is invisible: the board passes testing, assembles cleanly and keeps working through heat, vibration and electrical noise. Getting there takes more than routing traces. We think about power integrity, grounding, thermal paths, component availability and how the board will be tested on the production line.

We can take a block diagram and do the full design, turn a working breadboard into a proper PCB, or review and fix an existing layout that is failing in the field.

What’s included

What we do

Schematic design

Circuit design and capture with documented part choices, protection circuits and test points.

Multi-layer layout

Two-layer to multi-layer boards, including controlled-impedance, high-speed and mixed-signal routing.

Design for manufacture

DFM and DFT checks against your fabricator’s rules, panelisation and assembly notes.

Component sourcing

Parts chosen for availability and cost, with second sources noted in the BOM.

Prototypes & bring-up

We get prototypes made, power them up, debug them and fix issues in the next revision.

Manufacturing package

Gerbers, drill files, BOM, pick-and-place, assembly drawings and 3D models.

How we work

From first call to launch

  1. Requirements

Functions, interfaces, size, power and cost targets, agreed in writing.

  2. Schematic & review

Circuit design with part selection, reviewed with you before layout starts.

  3. Layout & DFM

Placement, routing and manufacturing checks, with 3D previews for enclosure fit.

  4. Prototype & bring-up

Boards made, tested and debugged, then the final manufacturing package.

FAQ

Common questions

Which PCB design software do you use?

We work mainly in KiCad and can work with other tools on request, so you are never locked in to one vendor.

Can you work from a hand sketch or block diagram?

Yes, many projects start that way. We turn it into a reviewed schematic first and confirm it with you before layout.

Do you get the boards fabricated and assembled?

We can order prototypes from fabrication and assembly services for you, or hand the files to the manufacturer you already use.

Will you sign an NDA?

Yes. We’re happy to sign an NDA before you share your design details.
